One of my enduring influences has been the work of Felicity Stockwell. This grand old lady of nursing is both charming and self-deprecating in spite of her obvious ability. When I was still relatively newly qualified she had both the courtesy and the patience to spend time (over more cups of tea than is quite decent) explaining to me her understanding of bonding, social grouping, evolution and psychopathology. Her insights into the human condition have stayed with me ever since.

This morning I spoke with Felicity by telephone and she has agreed to let me serialise her work on bonding here. I've taken her work (without edit) and scheduled it for publication on The Care Guy blog in 10 weekly parts from early April to Late May 2012.
